The 2017 24 Hours of LeMans will be here soon enough, June 17 and 18. This test of man and machine has had it all.....from tragedy, triumph, defeat, death, documentaries and movies, and still creates legends. 1955 1955 saw the worst motor racing tragedy off all time. The LeMans start is the most charged event in motor racing. Spectators are crammed into the stands and hold their bodies over the fences to get a better look. To this day, there isn't a clear number of dead spectators. Just like today, Jaguar, Mercedes, Ferrari were competing for the top spot at this world class event. This documentary shows some great behind the scenes footage and interviews with drivers from that race, describing what happened. Brutal. 1971 Some call it the greatest racing movie ever made. I can't argue too much with that. Filmed at LeMans in 1971, Steve McQueen stars in the epic film that tested the boundaries of cinematography of the day. Yes, it is great, and yes there is some great footage of some iconic racing machines, and it has been enhanced for the 21st century.
